Hello Newbie thinking about buying my first Porsche

Hello,

A good friend of mine is selling his 2011 Cayenne with 120K miles. Excellent condition! This guy takes very good care of his cars. I have always wanted a Porsche especially a Cayenne. How worried should i be about the high miles? V6
Any advice?
Price is right!

What are you driving now? If you are driving a bulletproof Japanese, Porsche is a dicey proposition. Oil change service is ~$750 @ dealer. Porsche specialist indies also know this...to a Lexus they'd charge $75, Porsche $150. Also very finicky electronics...and loads and loads of electronics. Poor souls who buy the Taycan.

If you have a money tree, willing to put up with unreliability, Range Rover/Porsche are options.

@pkv, I cannot speak about the 2011 and with that many miles but having the 2014 Base almost 6 years and $50k miles we did not have any issues related to reliability @gw7 generalizing about to the point of the Range Rovers. This run of Cayennes had a known transfer case problem and for ours Porsche replaced it even out of warranty given the bulletin with no questions asked when a problem developed at 35K miles. Then, as far as servicing costs, they vary significantly around the country and I cannot see where you are located but here in Indianapolis this is the dealer service data that I can provide for your guidance (below). I do not find general inputs as posted by @gw7 helpful if they are not backed up by market or personal experience data. I heard a lot about the Range Rover issues in the local area but I would not post anything unless I have data to share with the forum members seeking advice on purchase one or the other. Our 2014 Cayenne sold in 2 days over the Thanksgiving holiday by the dealer because it was in immaculate condition, with $3K of extras we put into it, and precise service and cost records as shown:

NOTEs: O/F is oil filter and comes with multi-point inspection that I observe them do watching through the glass and recommend everyone else to do the same since it is common that they just check the 150 boxes but not really do the check.

Service (Delivery: 3/6/2014) Cost
10K Service (O/F) $335.11
10K Service (O/F, 2YRBREAKFLUID) $534.67
20K Service (O/F) $484.68
New Tires ($338 x 4 + $200 labor) $1,603.15
30K Service (O/F) $353.71
NAV MAP Update (2016) $435.18
LED OEM KIT Install $1,016.76
40K Service (O/F, POLLENFILTER, ENGFILTER, SPARKPLUGS, BREAKFLUID) $1,079.23
Warranty Transfer Case + K& N Filter Install $82.00
Rebalance All Wheels $146.00
50K Service (O/F) $353.61

Bottom line, find the place (dealer or indy) that you plan to use for service usually done only once a year or 10K miles, and get the services and costs understood, and then decide if you need to grow a money tree.
