new member posted in new member section but didnt know if i could get more traction here.
New member here, not new to Porsche, recently sold a 2005 911 carrera but knew the to Cayennes. Test drove both 18s and 19 base, similar miles, options, 19 is a little bit more to buy.
Looking for pros and cons of both.
Also neither one has the tow package but dealership said they can install the hitch. $2500 or something, am i losing out if the car does not have the tow package or is it basically the hitch and wiring.
I don't know that much about the new ones (I have a 16 hybrid), but ins't the PCM screen on the 19 fairly different? I think 19 is the year they updated the body style. I'd go 19 because of the upgrades...
On the hitch, that seems really pricey for a hitch that costs $6-700. Have you tried looking at trailer.com?
Yes the infotainment system is different. I prefer the buttons, rather than having drill down three menus to change fan speed. Yes, my 2018 has buttons of a F-16. But in a week I learnt all the buttons. The 2019+ infotainment is a pain.
The complication of these vehicles is beyond belief. The factory hitch and trailer wiring more than a hitch and wires. When done correctly, the installation sets things up so the rear door will only open from the latch on the door when a trailer is connected. The parking radar will automatically turn off when a trailer is attached. There is a lot more to it than throwing on a hitch and some wires.

Yes, and the entire rear crossmember is substituted for the towing one, requiring a lot of disassembly. YouTube has a couple of videos about the procedure. Extra reinforcement internally, I believe.
I still have the non-hitch crossmember in my garage.
Also, the trailer anti-sway is activated, shift patterns adjusted, and more.
I would recommend against any aftermarket hitch.
