'04 CTT Randomly Disengages from the Drivetrain
Got an intermittent problem with the wife's '04 CTT. No off-roading at all. Engine seems to disengage from the drivetrain - randomly...on the highway or in the driveway. I can't replicate the failure, nor could my mechanic and I get no warning messages before it fails. It's like the driveshaft just quietly disconnects, and immediately the Differential Locking Indicator warning light starts blinking
<and> the "Warning Parking lock! Apply parking brake!"
message appears on the dash. The motor keeps running...responds to the throttle, but the vehicle will not move in any gear after it coasts to an awkward (dangerous) stop off the road. Most times the gear shift locks, but sometimes am able to shift it into Park - which then locks into Park! What's weird is, these symptoms clear away after I restart. Checked for OBD2 (Bluedriver) error codes - ALL CLEAR.
Any clues guys?
