Is there an upgrade to the radio that can be downloaded so that I can use the AirPlay wireless? I now have to plug in my phone everytime to use carplay. Some times the radio wont recognize the phone, some times the audio will not come out of the car speakers but out of the iphone. I have to unplug and reconnect several times to get it to work. It's annoying!!

Much cheaper vehicles out there have the ability to wirelessly use AirPlay (I had a Volkswagen that did it no problem), so i know its possible.

OMG, same. Infuriating. Carplay works PERFECTLY in my VW Golf, but doesn't work for shit in my 2021 Cayenne eHybrid. If I remove my phone from the Cayenne Device list and "forget" it on my phone and then go through the whole pairing process again, sometimes it works. At least until I shut off the car and then I end up back in hell again.

In my situation, the phone seems to connect "properly" - but none of the iPhone map apps work (Google, Apple, Waze) and nothing that requires streaming works either (Spotify, RadioParadise, Overcast) - basically it seems like my LTE connection gets blocked. The phone seems connected to the car, but the phone can no longer connect to the cell network. Both wired and wireless are equally terrible, though sometimes the wired connection works a tiny bit better - maybe ONE streaming app will work, but nothing else.

My dealer just shrugs. The folks at the other end of the Porsche hotline are worse than clueless. If their standard script doesn't fix it, you can forget it - they are incredibly poorly trained and don't seem to have any hands-on knowledge about using any of the actual products.

I have to say that my CarPlay blood-boiling is absolutely ruining any joy I might have otherwise gotten from my 2-month old Porsche.

The same problem here. 2013 Cayenne Base with CDR-31 has less technology (actually no technology) than a post-2015 model cheapest sedan of any manufacturer more . Why doesn't Porsche provide a replacement unit for its older models? I have no good option other than throwing away the receiver+DVD player and replacing them with a new third party stereo with all the whistles and bells (rear view camera, car play and other). However, there is a problem; I understand you lose steering wheel controls, Another question is who is going to do it? If anyone knows a car stereo installation shop that is doing it on Porsche vehicles, please let us all know.

I have Carlinkit 2.0 Wireless Apple CarPlay Adapter Dongle that makes the connection automatic. Due caution, I'm on my second unit.
I've heard those dont work great.. Even saw some expert review videos on Youtube recommending not to buy. Whats the biggest issues you've had? It's $120 on amazon, so i wouldnt want to just waste that cash on an "experiment".

I have a 2013 base with the Bose audio upgrade. I really wanted CarPlay and Android Auto. After a lot of research I purchased the Joyeauto unit (Porsche Wirless CarPlay Interface – Joyeauto Technology) Initially it was daunting but they supplied a great video along with step by step instructions. Although fearful I took it one step at a time and also used another video from YouTube and went very slowly with it. There are people out there who can do it for you but I believe that anyone who is older than a millennial will be able to do it themselves. If I could do it so can you! Anyway, the results are specular. I have full use of of everything I had before including my SiriusXM. All the steering wheel controls work and both of the displays work as they always have. But when I want it, I have wireless CarPlay or wired Android Auto on the center screen and I can talk to Seri. It is the best thing I ever did to my Cayenne. We did 6 long distance trips (over 300 miles) this summer and I don't know what I would have done if I was stuck without Joyeauto. It really pays to spend some time looking around. The price varies a great deal from one vendor to another. I believe even Amazon is offering the Joyeauto unit now. There are some other manufactures offering similar units that may be better or not. Do your home work before you buy. Also, there are several different versions of PCM 3.1. Check and make sure you know which version you have. You can get the Cayenne to display your version number (I don't remember the steps but it was easy). I am really pleased with my Joyeauto add-on and would happily do it again if I got another Porsche with PCM 3.1.

Hi! Just picked up my new (2021) Cayenne Coupe e-Hybrid on Friday, and this is my first post here. I love the car, but there are already a lot of little software glitches, and this CarPlay issue is one of them. Very difficult to get CarPlay to launch, either wired or wirelessly, and when it is running it has bouts of quite choppy audio, for either music or phone calls. Worked flawlessly on my previous car, an Audi SQ5. I’m taking it into the dealer this Thursday to get some of the other weird things looked at (sporadic engine light, error messages for the assist systems), so will talk to them about this at the same time, and will let you guys know what they say.

I know, I also would hate plugging in my phone, especially for those short trips. This adapter arrived, setup was less than a minute, ever since it just works.

Carlinkit 4.0 is a good choice. Plug and play easy to install. The connection is fast. What surprised me was that it allowed me to watch videos on my radio, whether it was YouTube or Netflix!
I bought from Carlinkit Wireless Carplay Adapter. They gave me a 15% discount after I asked if it work on my car. The discount code is SAVE15. I've asked them and every one is able to use the code. It’s definitely worth it!

So my 2021 PCM only supports Apple CarPlay but I have an Android phone will this device allow me to use the PCM screen with my Android?

Your situation is the same as mine. JOYAUTO should not be used for 2021. A2A adapter is more suitable for you. I recommend this
