I try to keep telling everyone I know how bad all seasons are during the winter time. Hopefully when I show them this they realize what I've been telling them. Thanks for posting this.
what size wheels do you recommend for Cayenne snow tires, 18 or 19 inch? Does it make a difference? paul

Smaller the better....

Tires that are 'skinny', cut through the snow better. Fat wide tires are generally worse in snow and ice conditions.

fwiw: i've had 20" winter tires (275/45/20) for Minnesota winters over the past 3 winters for a Touareg and Cayenne. I'm absolutely amazed at how well a good set of winters perform vs. good all seasons tires. Night and day...

If i could do it again, i would step down to 19" in the winter... for just that wee bit better performance/handling/braking, yet still have a good looking wheel/tire combo.
I prefer "all weather" tires over "all season tires." "All weather" tires have the snowflake symbol but can be used year around. Examples: Nokian WR G2 SUV and Vredestein Quatro 3 SUV.
