I just bought my 2004 cayenne S and the dealer said they will take care of the CEL but before they took it in I had my mechanic pull the codes and he said its a timing issue but with only 64k miles Porsche says there is no way the chain could be stretched or bad. Could this just be a tensioner issue or a sensor issue or maybe the old driver put in regular crappy gas not 92 octane gas from reputable gas stations?

Any help is appreciated, I will report back once the dealer tells me what they did to fix it.

Dealer fixed the issue but it took him some $$$ first they replaced the battery to ensure that wasn't the issue since the battery died recently. Next they checked the oil and found it a bit dirty and overfilled, they said because of the sensitive sensors to much oil will throw off the timing causing a CEL. Oil changed and problem solved.
