I Need help, I have a 2013 Cayenne GTS and I received a code 05228D. Initially the PSM and Auto Start/Stop deactivated but now it's having a hard time starting. I replaced all for speed sensors and replaced the battery. But still it's showing Check engine and PSM, Auto start/stop issue. I have noticed sluggish engine power and vibration. As far as starting, it starts but it takes 2-3 seconds for it to engage. What could this be? I did put a fuel cleaner but not sure if it has anything to do with the sluggish start.

Thanks in advance

I just replaced all coils last year, replaced the battery also and replaced all 4 speed sensors. The other issue is the hrd start. I took it to a local shop and they said it's poiting to the cam shaft bank 1.

Our problem in helping you is that 05228D is not a Porsche code. It's a standardized code that some code readers barf up. Not being a Porsche code means it's not telling us much. A Porsche code follows the format: P#### or U#### - there is no trailing letter and you have too many characters.

If you intend to DIY - you need (absolutely NEED) a code reader that speaks Porsche. Foxwell makes a number, Durametic makes one, and there are others.

You can (and already appear to have headed down the path) follow the path of throwing parts at it based on guesses by well meaning netizens (and some mischievous or outright stupid netizens on Facebook..) You'll probably find a solution sooner or later but the last part you replace that fixes it means the parts you replaced before that were cash ill spent.

Buy the diagnostics tool - or take it to a professional.

Hello , I just installed all coils and sparks and the problem continues, checked the battery and it’s great. Did your cayanne had a long crank time as well? Like 2-3 seconds to start? The symptoms on mine is that + stop/start deactivated, PSM failure and roughness at low idle. The alternator is 1,499 at FCP euro but before purchasing it will be great to know if you had same faults. Thanks in advance!!

I didn’t have issues with the alternator. I had a bad coil on cylinder 4 and it was misfiring. Did you check the live data from your wheel speed sensors? Are you sure you don’t have misfire too? Do you get the faults all the time or randomly?

No misfires , I checked the live data and each one is pulsing in range all misfire counters are in 0 . I did an unplug and plug to each coil and you can feel the difference. I’m really stress out . I’m just going to go and order all coils and bolts from pelican parts (Beru) and give it a shot. The voltage in the lcd display is 14.4 . I hope the coils fix this problem. I just don’t like the roughness and start 2seconds delay .

I doubt it’s the coils if you don’t have misfire… try looking into more live data from the engine controller because the fault says “Check DME fault memory content” (not sure about piwis but that’s what icarsoft showed). How would you describe the 2 seconds delay in start? Just longer cranking? What about the rough idling? Do you have the faults all the time? Did you check the live data from the wheel sensors although I doubt it since you have rough idle…

Faults are all the time .

Yes longer cranking , the vehicle feels like it has bad engine mounts and can feel the vibration. Pressing the accelerator fast in 1k -3k rpm there’s a slight cutout in power. I checked the wheel sensors data and says M095 _sensor wheel adaptation active (0 value) . Engine roughness cylinder 1-8 ranges from -0.3079 to 25.71846 .

That’s not Piwis and I see that you have 2472 ignition misfire counter detection. Can you check each cylinder misfires below that? Also that is not the live data from you wheel speed sensors, there should be values in kmh from each wheel…
