New to site, hello, picked up 2004 S and today when I layed on the gas going 45, loud clunk from trans area, sounded like I ran over a metal rail road tie. Motor slipped out of gear for a few seconds then downshifted to 2 or 3. I know this has been covered in many prior posts as I google problem. so pardon my newbie question? is this drive shaft, or ????

okay to drive a few blocks or get into shop quick?

Thanks everyone?

Car idles fine, has slight low end wind when under load around 25mph + NOT AT IDLE ONLY WHEN DRIVING.

Gear problem

I also have a Cayenne S and have a problem when the car is going uphill, it has a loud "clunk" noise when it automatically shifts into lower gear.. Can anyone please tell me whether this is a big problem or not ? Surely Porsche should include this in their lifetime warranty as it is a big worry for drivers!
Thanks

Does it make a thumping sound under load? If it does I bet it is the cardan shaft bearing.
Or it could possibly be the valve body needing replaced based on what you have said.
