Hi folks,
I am sure you know the answer to this off the top of your heads - and yes I am sure I can search the forum and probably find it. but it's 4am in the morning and brain not working too well and going to work soon.

Just bought a Cayenne S 2007 4.8 NA and love it.

Every now and then when cold starting, we have a loud noise that sounds like it's coming from the exhaust - like baffles are loose or something.

Noise goes away after short time and does not happen on restart when warm.

I have read about bore scoring and the like - but cannot nail it down to whether it's common across the range or down to a year / model.

Any ideas?

Did I buy a lemon? - runs beautifully other than this particular issue.

If memory serves me right the 4.8 has oil squirters to help prevent cylinder scoring. If the cylinder was scored it would be noticeable long after it was warm. I would crawl under it before a cold start and get a TRUSTED friend or family member to start it. Atleast then you will have a better idea where the noise is coming from.
