oil use 2011 Cayenne

Hi, I'm a new 2011 Cayenne 2 owner. It's seems to use a LOT of oil for a new engine. Three quarts in 5200 miles. Is this common and when can I expect it to stop and not need oil. Service manager at dealer said to use my shift paddles and increase the RPM's. Any thoughts, thanks:(
