The Germans at Porsche have brought their brand new Cayenne S Diesel to the two-yearly car show in the French capital. The most powerful diesel model yet is displayed at the stand and comes with an Audi-sourced 4.2 liter eight-cylinder engine with biturbo charging which helps it produce 382hp.
The diesel-powered Cayenne offers 382hp alongside maximum torque of 850 Newton meters. The inclusion of the new engine makes the new Cayenne S Diesel a good option in terms of value for money and dynamic performance. It’s capable of a zero to 100km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds, and its top speed is 252km/h while fuel consumption is just 8.3 liters per 100km.

On the outside, the Cayenne S Diesel shares visual styling cues with its petrol counterpart. The brake system, for example, has been sized to handle the car’s power output, and it is identified by its silver brake callipers. The black fins at the front end emphasise the open air inlets. As with the standard Cayenne Diesel, the S gets “diesel” badges at the front ends of the wings and a model badge at the rear identifies it as a Cayenne S.
Porsche chose to fit an automatic start/stop function to the Cayenne S Diesel. Customers can also opt for a 100 liter fuel tank extending the range to a distance of around 1,200km (745 miles) without having to stop to refuel. The new Cayenne Diesel S is available from January 2013 onwards.
