I'm new to this board and to Porsches. I've owned 4 BMWs but it's time to get a new vehicle and I don't like the new X5. So I'm seriously looking into a Cayenne S. A few questions:
1. The dealers around here (San Fran Bay Area) don't seem to stock many vehicles so I'm planning to order one. How long does it typically take from order date until the vehicle arrives at the dealer? (With X5's, it's only a few weeks since the factory is in S. Carolina). With Porsche's, I suspect it takes a couple of months? Longer?
2. What sort of discount will dealers consider for an ordered Cayenne (as opposed to one that's sitting on a dealer lot)? With BMW, you can generally negotiate significantly below MSRP (in many cases you can get invoice + $1000), but I suspect since Porsche is a lower-volume mfr, the discounts aren't as good.
3. For those of you in the Bay Area, any recommendations on dealers/salespeople? My local dealer is Rector (here in Burlingame), but they are very small and I suspect they do less volume than other dealers in the area.
I actually just picked up a 2014 CTTS last week. I used Cartelligent and the dealer where the car came through was Rector. Cartelligent actually looks all over CA for cars matching your specs. Let me know if you have any questions.
