I just bought a 2012 Turbo with the 21" wheels and summer tires, and I bought a second pair of 19" wheels with Pirelli Scorpion Verde All-Season tires.

My question: Are these 19" Pirellis good enough for winter driving in Lake Tahoe / California Sierras? Should I buy snow chains and/or actual Winter Tires?

Thank you all! Want to be safe and secure...

I've been to Lake Tahoe/California Sierras. If it was me, I'd go with winter tires. Porsche approved 19s for the 958 are limited to Pirelli Scorpion Ice & Snow and Dunlop Winter Sport 3D, both in 265/50R-19. They say further that only (approved) 18" rims/tires have snow chain clearance on all four corners. On 19s there's clearance on rear axle only, and no clearance at all for 21s. I have 20's on my 958 CTT. I opted for Blizzaks since I had excellent results with this specific tire on the Touareg for a number of harsh MN winters.
